A Unique Perspective

At first glance, most people have no idea what this is. It's an interesting form and a beautiful blue, but what is it? Well, it's the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, MO.

As I took the time to walk around the arch, taking it in from different points of view, I noticed how much the arch, though a simple form, changed. I find it interesting how something can take on a whole new look when we make the effort to view it from another perspective.

Driftwood Patterns 1

Driftwood. The beauty in nature rivals, no surpasses, anything we can create. Yahweh, the God of the Bible, is the master builder.

Philippine Flower

A beautiful flower in the Philippines. I have no idea what it is, but the color is wonderful.

Little Flower

I love the subtle tones of the black and white in this image, as well as the narrow depth of field.

Stone Capital

The detail of this carved stone column capital is beautiful. It is from an abandoned building outside Detroit, Michigan.

The photo has an aged look and feels like something pulled from the recesses of memory.

Brick Tower

This is the tower of an old factory in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I have no idea why a tower was necessary, but it is a beautiful feature with great detail. This kind of ornamentation on a factory/warehouse is surprising to our modern mind-set, but wonderful nonetheless. This is an era long and sadly past.

The Cross and the Sun

Though I have mixed emotions about religious architecture, I like how the architect elevated the cross so very high; so high that it towers over everything else. The whole composition points us upwards, beyond ourselves, to the God of heaven. But the cross reminds us that this same God came near in Christ.

Two Columns

An old, abandoned house in Longview, Texas, USA. The worn but stately columns caught my eye and the upward view seems to hint at the once majestic residence.

I am pleased to say that I have recently heard that this historic residence is being restored.

Through A Glass Darkly

"For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known."   --1 Corinthians 13:12

Driftwood Patterns 5

I tend to think God likes abstract art--interesting and attractive colors, patterns, and textures. Why else fill creation with things like this?
