The Cross and the Sun




Though I have mixed emotions about religious architecture, I like how the architect elevated the cross so very high; so high that it towers over everything else. The whole composition points us upwards, beyond ourselves, to the God of heaven. But the cross reminds us that this same God came near in Christ.

Two Columns

An old, abandoned house in Longview, Texas, USA. The worn but stately columns caught my eye and the upward view seems to hint at the once majestic residence.

I am pleased to say that I have recently heard that this historic residence is being restored.

Whoa!

While in St. Louis over the Fourth of July holiday there was an air show over the Mississippi River near the Gateway Arch. I had a great time trying to capture the stunt planes as they performed overhead. This is one of the shots I particularly like.

Three Trees

A simple study in color to see the impact on the same image. It feels as if we've moved from a clear sunny day to a terrible storm. It comes off kinda cool.
