At first glance, most people have no idea what this is. It's an interesting form and a beautiful blue, but what is it? Well, it's the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, MO.

As I took the time to walk around the arch, taking it in from different points of view, I noticed how much the arch, though a simple form, changed. I find it interesting how something can take on a whole new look when we make the effort to view it from another perspective.

Though I have mixed emotions about religious architecture, I like how the architect elevated the cross so very high; so high that it towers over everything else. The whole composition points us upwards, beyond ourselves, to the God of heaven. But the cross reminds us that this same God came near in Christ.

I am pleased to say that I have recently heard that this historic residence is being restored.

I also like this architectural feature--sadly there's not much more to admire about the exterior of this building. However, it is a good place to view art. Now if they'd just get rid of that silly, gargantuan blue thing in the lobby.
